✨ A Grace-Filled Wednesday Worship at a Small Neighborhood Church – Visiting Jeongam Church 🙏
I recently had the chance to attend the Wednesday morning service at Jeongam Church, a small, local church near my home.
I had visited once last winter, but I didn't write anything down at the time—which I now regret. This time, I made sure to capture the experience. 😊
🕊 A Small Church, A Deep Sense of Grace
Last year, I met someone through a one-on-one discipleship Bible study at my church, and she told me she attends a church near my neighborhood. So I had always wanted to visit—and that church turned out to be Jeongam Church.
🙌 A Warm and Intimate Atmosphere
Jeongam Church is nestled in a quiet residential neighborhood.
Since the service was on a Wednesday morning, there weren’t many people in attendance—but that only made the worship feel warmer and more intimate.
6 elderly members
-
5 people around my age
-
The pastor and his wife
→ A total of 13 people gathered for worship.
What stood out the most was how we read the lyrics aloud together before singing hymns, and how the Bible passage was read five times in a row by different members. Each repetition brought deeper meaning, allowing the Word to sink more deeply into my heart.
📖 Sharing Reflections and Praying Together
During the service, a microphone was passed around, and those who felt led shared brief reflections on the Bible passage. About five people offered their insights, each sharing a heartfelt and unique interpretation.
With the pastor’s occasional interjections and the sincerity of each person’s sharing, I found myself thinking,
“Wow, I never thought this passage could be interpreted that way!”
It truly felt like a scene where Jesus and His twelve disciples were gathered in conversation around the Word.
Now I understand why the midweek worship was titled "Conversations with the Bible." 😊
Though the sanctuary was small and simple, it was filled with grace and the presence of God.
Being able to share in such open and honest conversation about Scripture was something I deeply cherished—something that’s often hard to experience in a large church setting. 💛
✝ The Light of the Cross – A Moment to Remember
After the service, as I was leaving the dimmed sanctuary, I saw the cross at the front glowing brightly.
That moment reminded me so clearly of the resurrection of Jesus, and I couldn’t help but smile. 😊
“This space is so beautiful… it makes me want to stay and pray.”
That’s what I quietly said in my heart.
🍜 A Homemade Meal and Sweet Fellowship
After the worship, we were treated to cold buckwheat noodles and spicy mixed noodles, lovingly prepared by a female elder. I was surprised to hear she had made the cold broth herself—it was delicious and deeply appreciated.
The small church cafeteria was decorated with lovely hand-drawn artwork, and everyone—just 13 of us—gathered like a close-knit family to enjoy the meal together.
Afterward, we moved to a cozy café space at the church entrance, where we shared tea and light refreshments.
The courtyard outside the café and the surrounding homes created such a peaceful, picturesque view—
I even heard that drama productions sometimes film in this neighborhood! 🏡
💌 With a Heart Full of Gratitude
It was a precious reminder that even outside my regular church, I can find grace-filled moments in community.
If I have the chance, I would love to return and worship again.
To the pastor, staff, and all the members of Jeongam Church—thank you so much for embracing me with such kindness and warmth!
