📘 What is Wesley's Catechism?

John Wesley, founder of the Methodist movement, developed this catechism to teach basic Christian doctrine in a clear and simple format.
Each entry is a Q&A, suitable for all ages—from children to adults.

🔹 Questions 1–10: Knowing God

1. Who are you?

I am someone who belongs to God.

Our identity begins with this truth: we are not our own—we belong to God.

2. Who made you?

God made me.

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”
— Genesis 1:1

3. Why did God make you?

So that I may know, love, and serve Him.

Our purpose is rooted in relationship with God—to know Him, to love Him, and to serve Him in all things.

4. How do you know there is a God?

Through nature, conscience, and the Word of God.

  • Nature shows His power and order.

  • Conscience reveals His moral law in our hearts.

  • Scripture declares who He is directly.

5. What is God?

God is Spirit—He is all-knowing, all-powerful, holy, and loving.

“God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
— John 4:24

6. How many Gods are there?

There is only one God.

7. But aren’t there the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit?

Yes. These are three Persons in one God—one in essence.
This is the doctrine of the Trinity.

8. Where is God?

God is everywhere. (Omnipresent)

9. Does God know everything?

Yes. God knows all things. (Omniscient)

10. Can God do everything?

Yes. God can do all things. (Omnipotent)
