👩‍🍳 How to Make Soft & Chewy Honey Milk Bread

1. Mix the wet ingredients and add flour and knead

In a large bowl, mix milk, sugar, salt, melted butter, dry yeast and honey until well combined. Add bread flour and mix with a spatula until no dry spots remain.
Then knead the dough by hand. For best texture, slap and fold the dough until it becomes smooth and elastic.

2. Roll and fold and shape the dough

Roll the dough out into a long rectangle. Fold one-third of the dough over, then fold the other third on top (like folding a letter). Repeat this folding process once more.

Roll it out again to 1cm thickness, use a scraper to clean up the edges, and cut it into small square shapes.

Mix 1 egg yolk with 2 tablespoons of water, and gently brush the tops of the dough to give a nice golden color after baking.

5. Bake

Preheat your oven to 170°C (338°F) and bake for 20 minutes.

6. Final touch

brush the surface lightly with milk.

While the bread is still hot, brush the surface lightly with milk to keep it soft and shiny. The texture becomes chewy and tender with a delicate honey flavor — you’ll love it even without any jam or butter!
